The night started with a very nice moonrise.

Traffic seemed worse than normal, so we were a bit late getting to game night. But, weren’t the last to arrive.

[livejournal.com profile] yebo & [livejournal.com profile] zosh had a nice tree up for the holidays.

[livejournal.com profile] palusbuteo brought a friend with him who brought several games with her.

He seemed very surprised I had no interest in the Lord of the Rings Trivial Pursuit. But, I’ve always hated Trivial Pursuit in all of its incarnations, so don’t care for this one either.

Instead we played this Quelf game.

It’s one of those games that makes people do strange things. I’m not big on those games. This one seemed particularly off beat. Sometimes exactly what you were supposed to do was not at all clear.

Sometimes it was dance a hula for a minute.

For reasons not clear to me, this seemed to be difficult for [livejournal.com profile] palusbuteo.

I’m not sure why. He dresses up like a Roman for strangers, but won’t dance a hula for friends?

I was willing to play the national anthem on my nose while wearing a bib.

OK, I admit it. I had some trouble with not laughing at it. Especially when I added an extra bridge to it by mistake.

[livejournal.com profile] cosmicirony seemed more than willing to get into it.

But, most annoying thing has to go to [livejournal.com profile] yebo.

His challenge was to make a snorkel costume and wear it for the rest of the game. The straw he used let out a very loud high pitched squeal as he breathed through it.
A noise he alone seemed to enjoy quite a bit.

I will admit to stuffing a paper towel into the straw deep enough he couldn’t blow it out.

And still the game went on.

I finally refused to answer a question so someone else could win.

Then, we switched to the Girl Genius game.

Sadly we are all fairly good at that now. So we went through the entire deck without anyone getting enough points to win.
So, I threw that one too.

It was late, we wanted to get home, and we still had to pass the State Police sobriety checkpoint on the bridge between there and home.

sorry about the trivial pursuit complex. I don't remember hearing about that before.

I figured you'd get a kick out of the nerdy trivia aspect, an easy win for you. Oh well. Now I know.

we saw the sobriety checkpoint, but were going in the opposite direction. Sorry you got caught up in it. Hopefully there are alternative routes to take next time.

As it's been 26 years since I gave up drinking, I don't have any worries at the checkpoint. And, it is my quickest way home.
We think we did see some others who may have been going out of their way to avoid it...

Surely I wasn't thinking you were going to be harassed or 'caught', since you don't drink.

But the delay in waiting to get through is what I felt bad about, but glad it wasn't a big deal.
