Today I got something from Amex to use my points to see Cirque du Soleil in
Worcester next week.
Given the ratio of points to dollar equivalent, they were offering 2
tickets for what would be about $130.
So, I said to myself “I wonder if that’s a good price?”
I clicked over to the Centrum web site and followed their ticket link.
(Hey, it was the Centrum when it was built and I started going there.  I
don’t care what corporation paid to plaster their name over it since then.)
Tickets in the same section were about $180.  So, good deal.  But, then I
looked at that deal.  It was $180 plus $20 per ticket in handling and $15
in shipping them.
$15 to ship them the 5 miles to my house?  On top of $20 each to “process”
them?
That’s just stupid.
Then, I checked Ticketmaster as they were the partners for this Amex
program.
$135.96 total.  OK, that lines up pretty well with the point conversion.
So, I got them with points.
But, I am totally amazed that this other ticket place would charge $100 for
tickets in the same section.
Same show, same night, same seating section, $50 more a ticket.
I was going to use my Amex points unless they were horribly marked up.  I’m
surprised to see they are the bargain.

I'm glad you checked the pricing.

Ticketmaster from what I've heard recently, is now in really hot water for slipping hidden fees and taking service charges when they were not supposed to, and had to pay out back to their customers.

Personally, I've always hated Ticketmaster and using their website service, nevermind having to pay a lot in shipping and handling and processing fees.

In this case it was Ticketmaster that was the good one.
The reason it was through Ticketmaster was the reasn i checked. I was afraid I was going to be getting $35 tickets for the equivelent point cost of $150 or somthing.
But, they're online price was right where the points said it should be. The other guys were horribly highter.

Oops, I totally misread that. Well, still good you were able to get the good deal. BTW I also call it the Centrum...And Great Woods.

Enjoy the show. I have seen 2 Cirque De Soleil shows when they were in Boston and they were wonderful.
