It’s hard to tell if my wife and I have a cold or the allergies, which are
rated 11.3 out of 12 today, are really hitting us hard.
My wife thinks we have colds, and she may well be right.  I can’t tell the
difference as the symptoms are almost identical.

The upshot of this is, very little sleep last night due to coughing and
runny noses.
But, it is that kind of awake that isn’t good for much.  Some times I’m
awake because I’m excited, angry, upset or just have too much energy to
sleep.  Those times I can do stuff when awake.
This kind I’m awake because I can’t breath right but am still very, very
tired.  So, not useful.

But, it does also get my mind stuck on things.
In my office, the sun comes right in to my work area each morning it is
sunny.
We have blinds, but the sun comes in right in the middle.  SO, you have to
close off the whole window where only a small amount would do.

So, I fixed that.

It is remarkably hard to do that.
Not only do you have to cut the cords that run through it, there are little
spring bits that are very resistant to being broken with a set of needle
nose pliers.
But, I was determined.

Of course, looking out my window raise other problems.

Do climate models take into account the greater amount of wind friction
when all the trees sprout leaves?
They must, right?  How else could they be even close to accurate?    Are
they even close to accurate?

Looking quickly though google, I don’t see anything on it.  I see lots of
plant growth and the effects of wind on it.  Or evaporation from leaves
based on wind speed.
But not “does the high amount of rain in the spring influenced by the
emergence of leaves and an increase in hemispheric air friction”.
Or, is it global?  It’s fall in the south while spring in the north.  If
they lose leaves as we gain them, is there is shift in patterns due to the
change in friction.
There is a lot more land above the equator.  So, the effect might be more
in the south.

Well, that’s the sort of thing I think about when I’m tired.  At least when
I’m not vandalizing shades.

You just broke my brain. Granted, it was a little brittle today to begin with.

Lance and I have the same weird "are we sick or just allergic to life right now" thing going on. I'm treating myself as if I'm sick, just in case, and also in hopes that I will pre-empt any ACTUAL sickness trying to sneak in under the cloak of allergies.

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...

no, spring and blooming plants and trees does not contribute to global air friction

each hemisphere is in it's opposite season (when it's summer here, winter in Australia)

And,, winter here is much longer time period that spring/summer, so as that's the case, then leaf-less trees
would mean lower resistence, which means a "faster" winter season, but that's not the case

:D

No, that's not what I mean at all.

I'm talking wind speed, not planetary rotation.
Is the a big slow down of wind speed once the leaves sprout and give a lot more surface area.
Does the slower air the heat up more in the sun and rise.
Does it cool when rising and drop it's moisture?

Or, does leaves sprouting help the rain?

I remember hearing a news report about a scientist who had determined that the average wind speed in the lower 2 km of the atmosphere had indeed slowed down. But, he hadn't proven whether it was due to overall increase in temperatures, increases in vegetation, or what. He had also hypothesized that the average wind speeds in the higher atmospheres had INCREASED by roughly the same amount of lower atmosphere decrease, but was having a harder time proving it. Will have to see if I can locate that news report, but it was from a couple months ago..
