The nature of evil

The scanner where I work has been weird since our network update 3 weeks
ago.
Today, the division founder came over to me.
“Can you tell me where the files I scan are going?” he asked me.  “I’ve
looked all over the network and I can’t find them.”
“No,” the guy who sits next to me said.  “It’s broken.”
“We think that the scanned files are being sent to an alternate dimension
where they’re being read by the Mr. Spock who has a beard,” I said.
“I think his answer was more useful,” the founder said to me.
“And, I was more terse,” the other guy said.
The founder walked away.
“The sad part is I know just which Star Trek episode you mean,” the guy
next to me said.  “The one with the evil Spock.”
“He is evil because he steals other people’s scanned documents,” I said.
He just nodded.
