On day two of the Mobile Ren Faire, we found out how much the site had been trashed the day before.

That’s a fair bit of trash.

After almost having his nose pierced the day before, Devon decided to get in touch with his feminine side.

Others were not impressed.

The raptor man brought these with him.

I’m not sure they’re raptors or not.

The day started out well enough as we did our fights.

But, as the day wore on, the weather got worse.

That didn’t stop our folks from walking around.

[livejournal.com profile] perrin_o_ravnos got the “soft shell crab sandwich”.
It was what it claimed to be. A fried crab on a bun.

David used some Lo Mein to build a sailing ship. It was very sticky Lo Mein.

Maybe word of the sword snorting got around as there were a lot less sword lessons on day 2.

Sue did her best to answer the age old question: “What is in the pirate’s chest?”
The answer, plastic cutlery...

Of course, pirate singers seem to keep something else there.

They keep music CDs there...

The rain that was in the middle of our second act did give us a nice rainbow afterwards.

We often manage to forget the group shot, but not this time.

Drunk and Sailor continued to do their act, but had to add “and dragon” too.

I spent a lot of time with young Michael.

He explained to me his plan to open a restaurant when he’s 25 and gave me a full description of what it would be like and the food offered.
Given we were surrounded by singers, dragons and the rest of the faire, that was pretty impressive focus for an 8 year old.

It was also explained to me that he had the power to control the rain.

It looked like more of the storm was coming in.

So I asked Michael to keep the rain away for our fire show. He promised to do his best.

For the whole fire show, a big cloud hovered over us, but no rain fell.

Just as we finished the fire show, Michael ran up to the edge of our performance area and shouted “Frank, Frank, I can’t hold it back any longer!”
It began to rain.

The good news was that the folks who were not in the fire show had packed up most of the stuff for us, so by the time I got the van back there it was just a matter of loading it up.

Then we all went off to the hotel where we got dry and discussed the show.

All in all, it was a pretty good show.
I am sorry that my wife and I were both sick.

But, it’s not every show you find an 8 year old fan can hold back the rain...

I think that I remember an X-files episode with a young weather-controlling kid. Good thing that you got along - you really don't want to p*ss those people off! :-)
