It's not even Halloween and Home Despot has the Christmas trees out? We're just totally skipping Thanksgiving this year? Or, do they just not have any Thanksgiving stuff to sell?
I went looking for Halloween decorations and there were hardly any available - the stores have switched to Christmas already. For us, Christmas season does not begin until we have had the pumpkin pie after Thanksgiving dinner.
Growing up it was always when Santa finished up the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade. After that you were allowed to talk about Christmas. That included at Thanksgiving dinner as my relatives would often use that chance to ask what we wanted.
But, there wasn't anything even remotely Halloweenish there, even if that is only a week away...
We had to make that rule when K was little, because otherwise she was a huge pest about Xmas. Therefore, the very specific "after the pumpkin pie is eaten on Thanksgiving" criterion. :)
It's INSANE. And I'm in freakin' RETAIL. I hate it!
I've already had my neighbors (other shops) all up in my grill about when I'm going to decorate. At least one of them already has...get this...EIGHT TREES up! OMG!
We have a "holiday" event Nov. 13 here in town or I wouldn't put a darn thing up until the day after Thanksgiving. It's getting more ridiculous every freakin' year.
Back in college we used to have a July in Christmas party. But, the steam heat in that old building, where the thermostat was in the florist on the ground floor, was pretty summer like.
