Today our new office should be getting our new furniture.
I was sent over to make sure it all goes well as I worked with furniture for 6 years.
So far, it's not here. Just a painter who likes to talk to himself in a language I don't know...
I thought it was here when a big truck pulled into the parking lot. But the driver checked something in the back, then moved on.
I hope it shows up soon. I have a ton of actual work to get done today, and standing here waiting for furniture to arrive isn't getting it done.

something about
Date: 2010-10-06 02:46 am (UTC)The last time we got new furniture when I worked @ Rockwell, the painters spoke English but the furniture assembly people were all Mexican, or Guatemalan, or some central american ancestry as none of them spoke English.
Things got a bit exciting when one worker dropped a desktop onto another worker's hand and cut it very badly. We had some first aid responders on site who provided first aid, but the secretary called for an ambulance. As soon as the ambulance and fire truck pulled into the driveway with the lights and sirens going, the workers all disappeared!
I know that this sounds like a terrible, stereotyping, racist story, but it is what actually happened! We ended up putting the rest of the office furniture together ourselves, as well as trying to clean up the big blood stain on the carpet. Not a good day - I hope that yours goes much better!
