Adventures in Shelbyville

After being chased out of Louisville by the Crimson Penguins, we drove over to pallid_regina's tea shop in Shelbyville.
Or, we tried to.
Her shop is on Washington street, but Google thinks it is on Main street. They run parallel to each other and are each one way in opposite ways.
But, we went to where Google thought the shop was and found an antique shop. I checked the iPad with it's GPS. It said I was standing in front of the shop.
Finally, my wife called. (I'm afraid of phone calls, remember?)
So, we walked one block North and found the shop.

It is a very nice shop, but quite crowded. This is, of course, why she is moving down the street. Soon after we arrived, a tour of the new digs set off. (Soon being 2 glasses of tea for me.)

The new place is only a block or so away.

My wife and I arranged for one of the rooms to be named after my wife's mother. I thought it a fitting sign that people started gathering in that room almost immediately.

We did get the full tour, and it is a very nice place. It seems much bigger, but it is hard to tell when it is empty and the old shop is full.
I guess I'm not the only one who thinks it is a nice place. I looked on the curb outside of the shop and the town apparently thinks it is OK too.

And, even if GPS fails to find it, I now know where it is.

Even if I did rush across the street to get the picture of the street corner,

Then we did what the place is there for: shop.

It was very nice to see

I found these birds funny.

I had not known that Colonel Sanders (of KFC) fame wife was also in the restaurant business.

My wife said I needed to take a picture of this car for those of you out there who like car porn.

The house next to the restaurant had horses, cars and topless women in front of it. I'm not arguing with any of those things. But, it isn't what I think of associated with the Sanders.

The food there is good and they give you a lot of it. My wife had the catfish. She loves catfish and rarely gets it well made. She was happy with this.

I had the "all you can eat" chicken. Also very good.

They started me off with two plates of chicken. Everyone seemed to think that was more than normal. But, it had been a busy day.

They also have a lot in the way of side dishes. They list 8 different side dishes. What isn't clear on the menu, if you order one of the "family" meals, even for 1 person, you get ALL 8 side dishes.

They are also very good. But, it is enough food to make you explode.
That's my theory about why the waitstaff kept moving very large pieces of furniture through the hallways during the meal.

I think when someone explodes from over eating, they stuff them in a piece of furniture and roll it off to keep them out of sight.
I saw three pieces of furniture go by...
It was a very nice visit. We had a good time and it was very nice to get to spend some time with friends we don't see in person often.

That Google Maps (and all interweb maps, for that matter) thing makes my head go all 'splodey...it's not THAT hard to figure out that the street splits into two one way streets, is it?! I get at least one call a week from someone standing on Main wondering why they can't find my shop. Sigh.
