Week in pictures

Like the sparrows to Capistrano, the squirrels return to my balcony each spring.

I can’t say I’m fond of it as they tend to be loud and dig up any plant I put out there. But, at least the chairs are getting use.

This one seemed very young and not exactly afraid of humans with cameras.

This last week was really bad for our allergies. It seems worse when the trees let off their little puff balls. And, they let off a lot of them. It covers the ground around our apartment complex.

My wife has been told that they don’t have pollen, so she can’t be allergic to them and it must be something else that just happens to pollinate at the same time that really gets to us.
It’s true they don’t have pollen, but maybe they give off some sort of dust when they pop out, or something like that. We are both allergic to much more then pollen.
By midweek it rain and they all clumped together in the parking lot.

There were so many of them it looked like something had dumped a tanker of porridge down the road.

At work, I have continued to look for evidence of the devil hiding behind the birch trees from my mother’s stories of 40 years ago.

Either the devil is not fooled by my looking the other way with my camera pointed towards the trees, or my sitting by the trees says something about my nature.
(You’ll note the lack of the “maybe no devil” choice. That would imply that some of the stories of my youth might not be true. I was told the devil went after birch trees. So, that must be true, just like the poison swamp, right?)
Most of the flowering things near work have passed. These flowers are about all that is left in bloom.

No flowers, but lots of leaves. I think everything is fully out in the leaf department.

And, having shade as we walk around is very nice. Especially on the hotter days.
