My mother in law

Had she not died yesterday, my mother in law would have turned 70 today.
We didn’t get to take her out as expected, but I still thought I’d remember her birthday.


(The cake is actually from her 60th birthday party, but it is one I know she liked.)

Today I know she was with her daughter and brother, even if they could not be with her.


Having talked with both today, I know how much both of them missed her and wished for just a short time more together.


I know she will be missed by them, Brad her significant other, as well as the many cats and plants she took care of.



Jean and I saw eye to eye on very little. But, we did agree on our love for her daughter.

Tonight we did go out to dinner with some friends who were very kind to stop by and cheer us up. So, even if she didn’t attend in person, there was still a party on her birthday.

So, happy birthday to my mother in law. My thanks to her for what she’s given me.

I think having a party "for her" anyway was the nicest gesture you could do in this situation, and I think she would have been grateful.
