Thursday’s adventures

I haven’t been feeling well this week. I’ve hoped it wasn’t that whole H1N1 stuff. After all,

But, despite what the pollen count says it is, the build up on my windshield makes me think it isn’t any virus.

Thursday was apparently “Bad Driver Day” in Massachusetts. And, apparently on BDD if you’ve got handicapped tags you not only don’t have to use your turn signals, but don’t even have to check that lanes are free before you move into them.
Or, maybe he thought the little car on the back of his big car was watching out for him?

But, I got up to Tom and Brett’s new place to help them paint and move an old cast iron stove.

One of the surprising things about their new house is it appears to be selling off most of 1972 for $500.
Granted it is only 350 out of 365 days, but two weeks off is pretty standard, as it breaking it into 4 seasons.

I’m not sure. $500 isn’t much for a whole year. But, 1972? It wasn’t my favorite.
It is somewhat weird as that was the year I started 4th grade and someone asked me last weekend what I remembered from 4th grade. So, it all makes a weird sort of sense.
But, I don’t have and extra $500 these days, so I think I’ll pass.
In the evening my wife and I headed back to Holy Cross for our weekly Capoeira class.

The class doesn’t seem to have a big priority for room on campus. Each week it is going to be held in a different room. Several weeks there is no room and the class won’t be held.
I couldn’t remember which room it should be last night.
The first one we tired had a great view of sunset in Worcester, but wasn’t set up for what we do in the class.

We found the right room. The view wasn’t as good, but it had much more room for us.

That tray rack came up and whacked my foot while doing some exercises and really hurt my toes. I’m maintaining I didn’t kick it accidently, but it leapt out at me.
They tried to make us do hand stands again. That’s just not happening for me. The instructor seemed to think it was a “fear of being upside down” for those of us who didn’t do it. I think it is more a realistic assessment of my weight and upper arm strength.
It is very intense. To say it is good exercise is to say the stress test I took a couple of years ago was too.
The first week I thought I could keep up with about 80% of the instruction. This week, it was more like 70%. It’s a 7 week class, so by the last one I’ll be about 10%. But, hopefully, it will still be above 0...
Wednesday I got a call from one of my random resumes into the dark saying they did have an opening. I called him back yesterday and got his voicemail. I'll try again today.
Today I was contacted by a headhunter for another job.
So, 3 responses this week. And, the only positive response I have ever had to a blind resume despite lots of tries with it.
At the very least it shows things are picking up.
