Phish in a barrel

Last night I paid our AMEX bill and our cellphone bill more or less at the
same time.
About 10 minutes later, I got an email to the email account (of the 5 I use
regularly) that I use for the bills saying “The payment you just made did
not go through. Please follow the link below to fix the problem.”
I did NOT click the link.
I went back and checked each site the secure way I log in to pay them, and
both think they have the money.  My bank thinks it gave it to them.
So, I’m going to put this down to a phishing expedition on someone’s part.

It’s just a bit spooky with the timing

Lately at work we have had a laser pointer shortage. For more than a year, there was none and it was fine. Then, my boss bought one for the conference room and now people are always grabbing for it.
Laser pointers are cheap these days. So, I bought three of different colors and that should solve that.
If, of course, I decide to share them....
