Christmas time
Dec. 25th, 2008 07:26 pmIt was a good Christmas here. My wife and I didn’t do a whole lot last night. (Played WOW.)
This morning I got up early and made waffles and bacon.
Once breakfast was done, we opened our presents.
I got a new earphone for my cellphone, 2 DVDs I wanted, a book I wanted, a CD from a musician I like, a t-shirt and another
I got my wife a stuffed murloc, two paperweights of the type she likes, an ornamental box, a red glass vase and a pendant that turns out to be made by someone on my friends list,
(That was a really strange “small world” thing for me. She suggested it last month and I ordered it. I remember thinking it was strange that it came from only 1 town away from where we live. But, it didn’t occur to me I would encounter the person who made it. Then, after a discussion of the revels this week, we put each other on our friends list. It was only when my wife said “don’t you know that
Anyhow, I cooked a nice ham with some potatoes (sweet and white) for dinner. After we ate, we packed up a bunch of it and headed out to the “house of ick” with a week’s supply of groceries for my mother in law.
The murloc came with us.

The good news was that my MIL’s boyfriend was off with his family, so we didn’t have to put up with his chain smoking while we delivered the presents and food.

We only had to deal with the cats that both of us are allergic to.

My MIL opened her presents.

My wife got her a heatable cat throw to wear.

Some colored pens

Some slippers/booties made by someone she works with

And, a book.

I got her a DVD. If I had known she didn’t know how to work her DVD player, I might have picked something else. But, we showed her how to do it. Hopefully she’ll remember.
Although I have very little in common with my MIL, I don’t mind visiting with her. But, it is very tough in her house that literally makes me ill. We stayed a bit more than an hour and my eyes hurt the whole drive home.
The strange thing is, she’s allergic to it as well. She has three different inhalers she uses as well as other medication.
But, she won’t give up the cats or her boyfriends.

The drive home was nice.

Not a lot of traffic, the roads dry for once.
We got home, had a bit more to eat, then I watched one of the movies I got from my wife. Murder by Death. I hadn’t seen it in a long, long time. I remember going to see it in the theater with my father when it came out. (My father paying to see a comedy was one of those unique things you tend to remember.) It’s still pretty funny. And, at the time I hadn’t appreciated the cast. Now, I do.
So for us a good Christmas. Maybe a bit quieter than usual, but I’m OK with that. I can use the rest...
