Deep South Day 2

Day 2
Right at midnight Friday we set off south.
I’ve flown over the Pacific, Atlantic, Indian and Arctic oceans. But this may be the first I’ve flown over 2 in the same flight.

But, we did and about dawn were closing in on Lima.

When we got there we had to climb down stairs and get on a bus.

There were all kinds of signs about keeping distance, even on the bus, but they still packed us in.

We had to go through the paper work inspection again. We had in Orlando, then in Miami and now in Lima.
Do we have insurance?
Is it good for Covid?
Did we take a test?
Where are the results?
Do we have a Chile approval code?
Each asked it slightly differently. Miami wanted to see the email that sent the code plus the code. Lima wanted to specifically see the Covid coverage.
But, we have it all.
So, soon we were relaxing in the terminal with a local soda.

I was excited to see the next leg would be on a Dreamliner as I hadn’t been on one yet.

The seats up front have a LOT of room.

But, the eye stocks had followed us!

We had landed in Lima just before dawn and it was cloudy and foggy.
But, a few hours later there still wasn’t a lot to see near the airport.

But, when we took off, there seemed a lot going on.

We soon left it behind and headed out over the Pacific.

The Dreamliners use darkening windows, not shades. It takes some getting used to.

As we got to Chile we came closer to the mountains.

It’s an interesting place, but seems to have a lot of brown, even in the air.

On the ground it reminded me a lot of Phoenix Arizona.

EVERYONE who gets off the plane has to have a Covid test, show the paperwork and go through customs.
This took us so long the cruise people sent folks out to find us.

Soon we were in the van to the hotel.

Maybe it is just my being very tired, but I think that hill looks like the face of a person.

Maybe no so much at other angles, but I still see it.

We were late enough to get caught in rush hour. Even though summer here, EVERYONE is wearing masks, even outdoors.

Until we get the latest results we aren’t allowed to leave our hotel.

It’s a nice room, and we got room service, so it isn’t too bad. Nice view.

Now I really want to get those results as the cruise company won’t tells us what time to get ready tomorrow until they’re sure we can go.
One more test…
Hope we pass…
