We had the Phoenix Swords Christmas party at O’Connor’s today.

We had 16 people there today, but not there all at the same time.
Sadly, Josh’s grandfather died so he and his wife Christine showed up early, had a drink, then had to head out.

But, the other folks who were there seemed to be happy about it.

Pretty soon, most of our people had shown up.

There was much pondering of drinks.

And, anticipation of what would be ordered.

[livejournal.com profile] blue_micha seemed very happy that her favorite soup was still on the menu. (It used to be a later summer/early fall special.)

Lots of appitizers were ordered. I think 5 orders of Shillelagh Sticks were brought. None remained.

Then, there was the expections with [livejournal.com profile] morgan_lafaye’s meal. She likes her beef VERY rare. Last year, it was not brought out that way and the owner himself took it back to “make sure she got what she wanted”.

In the words of our waiter “we’re not going through that crap this year. This year they’ll make it right the first time.”
According to what he told us when the order was read in the kitchen it went “1 rare, 1 medium rare, 1 medium, 1 raw.”
I guess it worked as she was happy with it this year.

Everyone else seemed happy with their meals as well.

As we were ordering desert, Jose and his girlfriend arrived.

By then, much like after a Thanksgiving meal, people were tired.

The last two times we’ve had the “crazy” waitress, and feared our luck would hold. But, this year we got an ex-entertainment director for a cruise line who also used to sing musicals and opera.

He was very good and got a good tip.

Leaving we got bogged down in the lobby.
In a way too complex to explain, I also ended up reclining.

It was a good time.
It costs more than the pot lucks we used to have at the camp in the woods. But, it’s a lot less work and everyone seems to have a good time with it. I did.

Hoooray!!

I had a good time, too! That waiter rocked! Now, if we can get him to join, we could train him to swordfight while holding a tray and not spilling bisque

Oooh! Ooh! With a plate of mutton...RAW

:D

Looks like you guys had a great time!
Merry Christmas to all of you.

I definitely think there should be a picture with the cool waiter on one of the girls' lap. :-)

I have to ask, what are Shillelagh Sticks?!?!?

They are corned beef hash in a pastry shell. You can see them on the table in that photo. They look sort of like bread sticks.

If you're ever out this way, we'll make sure you get some.
