Adventures in my imaginary life
Dec. 3rd, 2008 08:49 amI bought my wife the expansion for World of Warcraft so our characters could keep playing together. OK, they could have if I didn’t do the expansion, but I wanted to go see the new stuff they added.
So, we got on a boat and sailed off to the new land up north.

Jumping off the boat, the first thing I noticed was that the sharks are MUCH bigger up north.

And, you’ve got to be careful of the killer whales up there. They chase you up onto the ice flows if you try and get away from them.

Of course one of the reasons I wanted the expansion was the wooly mammoths.

Some of them are pretty mammoth too.

One of the things I was surprised about was meeting the big bad guy of the expansion very quickly. In the last expansion few people ever saw the big bad guy except in the opening video.
But, soon after reaching Northrend I ran into the Litch King that the Wrath of the Litch King expansion is named for.
The little skull next to his name plate means he’s powerful enough to kill me if he sneezes.

Of course, he sneezed.

In something I think is a bit strange, there are a lot of airplanes up there.

Enough so that I think the EPA should get after them.

I’ve never been good at the “instances” or dungeons in the game. I never end up doing very many of them.
So, now that most of the guild I’m in is in 70-80 level range, we went back and killed a dragon in a level 60 dungeon.
It was a classic of the original game, but in several years of playing it, this was the first time I went there.

The bad news is I’ve found I can’t run the new type of character they came out with in the expansion. I tried. Really, I did. But, after running around with the new character for one evening I had really disturbing dreams. So, I’m skipping that phase of the game.
(It was nice to see Denis Leery in the dream. I’m glad he’s getting work these days...)

Date: 2008-12-03 06:26 pm (UTC)I've tried a few 'locks. I got one as far as 35.
I've leveled a mage, a warrior and a paladin to what was max at the time I played them. The warrior I never brought past 60. The paladin is still 70. The mage is 72 right now and the one I'm pushing to 80.
Maybe I'll work on my 64 hunter next. Or, the 43 rouge....
We'll see.

also, on a side note, I know Bassini still wants the Hippogryph mount, well, over in the borean tundra with the D.H.E.T.A people there is a repeateable quest for ears. Each time you turn them in it gives you 150rep with the cenarian expedition, the same guys who have that mount! So, instead of waiting on people to do Coilfang instances, she can grind for her mount that way, if she wants to.
