Week in photos

It was not a great week for work again, and by Wednesday my wife and I said "let’s just get take out Chinese food instead of cook tonight".
So, we set off as it started to get dark across the valley.

But, it became clear it wasn’t just the sun low in the sky that was making it dark.

Pretty soon we were in the middle of a pretty bad hail storm.

The wind was bad enough that all manner of things were blowing across the road in front of us.

But, the food was retrieved and the power was back on at home by the time we got there. (It was on when we left. We just found all the clocks flashing 12:00 when we got home…)
Thursday morning was much more calm as I arrived at work before sunrise.

For the first time in 7 months I saw my boss in person as he arrived so we could both make a presentation to his boss about the problems we’ve been having. (That’s the head of manufacturing who insisted on putting on a lab coat to take my boss’ temperature.)

The presentation seemed to go well. Hard to tell with folks who make their living by projecting one thing no matter how things are really going.
But, the weather was nice…

My boss’ boss wanted me to give a tour to some visitors that afternoon. As I waited to let them into the lab building a groundhog came out and mooned me. As soon as I had the camera out, he disappeared.

Three times I didn’t get it’s photo…

On the way home I saw they were putting out the scarecrows on the town common. My wife likes those.

Friday was pretty dark when I started work in the living room.

When the sun came up I saw frost on the roof across the courtyard.

Friday was the kind of day where I started before 6 in the morning, but had a 5PM meeting with my boss where he thinks there is a problem with one of my designs.
But, at least after that there was game night.

We played a bunch of games. I won the robot game. Go figure…

Saturday my wife and I went up to the center of town to walk about, catch Pokemon and look at scarecrows.

Then home.

I have to admit, not taking a vacation and going anywhere interesting is weighing on me this year.
But, looking at the Covid numbers, it’s hard to see when I could go places again.
These are all the countries I’ve been to:

And, I live in the worst. By far.
For the first time since we’ve formed Phoenix Swords in 2002 we are not doing the fall show in Alabama.
But, we’d have to go through these states to do it:

And, that’s just not realistic these days when I’ve got to go into work and so does my wife.
Even looking at the places we’ve gone in state the last month has some issues.

That Indian food is very good, but pretty risky…

Date: 2020-10-12 03:06 am (UTC)When we were kids all the Halloween movies were set in New England. And there were autumn leave on the ground and.......
I guess as an adult you realize that's all Hollywood but forever I was jealous of what that Halloween looked like. It snows here by Halloween, some years, if it's not snowing it's REALLY COLD, your Halloween costume is under your parka.
Your pictures look like the movies.
I guess we get what everyone thinks of as What Christmas Is Supposed to Look Like. But Christmas is not as good a holiday as Halloween.
