There and back again
Dec. 28th, 2019 05:28 pmIt was cold when we left. You can tell by the icicles coming off the bottom of the car and the frost on the top.

There was still snow on the ground when we left Massachusetts.

We made fast time through Connecticut, into New York and through New Jersey. In fact, it was fast time until we got to Maryland.

The Wendy’s there did not do well.
45 minutes for 2 burgers. But, you could tell the staff was giving its full attention.

Then, when we got to Virginia, the road basically stopped.

We stopped in the rain in South Carolina after I had driven for 15 hours.
The next morning we set off in the rain.

It was quite heavy with roads flooding and cars going off the road.

It did clear up as we got farther south.

There were lots of cars.

And, as we crossed into Florida it got slower.

The trees looked like they did at home a few months ago…

Remember, objects are closer than they appear in your mirrors.

We’re not sure if we saw one of Santa’s elves or an orc on the highway.

As we drove into Orlando, the clouds came back.

We had our solar charger going all trip, but it had only put 1/4 of a charge on our battery in that time. But, it had been rainy a lot of the time….

We got a room with a nice view.

The morning we headed home, it was very foggy.

We stopped at my wife’s Aunt and Uncle’s on the way north.

This took us off of main highways and did slow us down some.

When stopping for lunch near Jacksonville a man came into the McDonalds and explained that the day before the manager told him he could have all the food he bought replaced as it had been made wrong.

He didn’t get any free food. But it did slow down the rest of us waiting.

It was afternoon before we cleared florida.

This water tower seems to be set up to prevent Godzilla from stepping on it.

In Virginia we saw the southbound traffic was still very bad.

We didn’t get bad traffic until we crossed the bridge into New Jersey.

You could see more of New York than on the way down.

But, traffic in Connecticut was very bad and cost us 2 hours of slowdown.
