Disney like a vacation
Sep. 29th, 2019 10:45 amMonday morning we slept a bit later. (I managed to get my hand bit by spiders too…)
Then, back to Disneyland.

Instead of walking across the park, we decided to take the train.

We went to the Haunted Mansion. I’ve always liked that ride.

They’ve redone it with a Nightmare Before Christmas theme. I can’t lie. I liked the original better.

Again, the "empty park".

This restaurant has a very similar name to the one at the museum my wife and I both worked at years ago. But, we didn’t eat there.

Then, back on the train.

Over to Tomorrowland, where the lines were not yet bad.

Certainly not zero line…

They had redone this with a Star Wars theme. I didn’t mind that as much as the haunted mansion, but I still liked the original.
Then, back on Star Tours that was more crowded than the day before.

Then, across the park, past the band, to Frontierland.

We decided to set sail on the Columbia, the only part of Disneyland proper you can see in Galaxy’s edge.

OK, it’s a fake boat that goes around in a circle. The crew seems to look for things to keep themselves busy. Including "interacting" with guests. I think he thought I was taking video, but to me this is just as funny.
He maintained that he "didn’t see any people in there" when looking at my phone. I assured him they would see him.

Maybe it was my ears that set him off?

Or, that my wife and I were singing along to their sea shanties?

Who knows? I still thought it funny.
The crowd tracker assured me it was a Ghost Town.

Again, I question their criteria.

Either way, we did go back to Batu for a bit.

I did wonder what this was in the trees.

Then, outside the park for dinner.

It was nice to see the mountains, which are usually hidden at the park.

The shopping area near the hotel had a Zoltan machine, so we had left Star Wars and entered Big.

My wife says this sign does not mean women take off parts of their swimwear when near motorcycles. But, that’s how it reads to me.

We did not see any actual motorcycles, so the theory is unproven.
Towards sunset we made our way back.
Once it was really down, we left our hotel and headed back to the park.

As we reached the park entrance a very large murder of crows came out, sang and danced over our heads and then flew back into the park.

That was one of my favorite things this trip.
But, back in.

Batu at night is very nice.

We did see one of the heroes instead of just bad guys.

She seemed to interact a lot. Unlike all the other cast folks, I didn’t see her handler.

It looks different at night, but very cool.

We did find out about those things in the trees. They’re lights.

My new phone takes very good night photos, so it was darker than it looks here. This is closer to what my eyes saw.

These are from my wife’s phone to show the improvement in the new one.

But, I am glad we went back at night.

I scheduled my second lightsaber against the fireworks, and it was MUCH less crowded. Only 3 people instead of 15.
The fireworks literally shook our hotel the previous two nights. I didn’t even hear them inside the lightsaber shop. Good insulation.

They seemed very worried when I picked the red crystal.

This time I did the nature type blade.

Not until editing these photos did I realize the guy next to me had been watching me to see how to do it.

I do think it went together well.

Three different colors for three different builders. (The day before about half of us were blue.)

This was when I did the third Falcon run.

The ride shows you landing in the day light during the day, and night at night. Nice detail.
We did not stay anywhere near the closing time, and went back to the hotel by 10.
