As good as could be expected

This morning I went to the periodontist to have my jaw filed down to make more room for the crown on my teeth.

The good news:
He took me early.
He worked efficiently and got it done in less time than predicted.
All seems to have gone well.
The medical savings plan I started at work did a good job of offsetting the cost and cut it by more than half.

The other news:
Cutting my gum away to grind down my jaw with a miniature file is as pleasant as it sounds.
The area between the teeth requires hand tools so was “energetic” on his part.

Apparently all went well.
I had been worried when he put an apron over me that covered from my neck to my ankles “in case anything sprayed more than expected”.
But, nothing sprayed, so it wasn’t too bad.

It was a bit disconcerting to have him sawing part of my gum down as he leaned right over my face. There were a few times he just grabbed my jaw with his other hand and filed away pretty hard.

I still blame my dentist for all of this.
But, it’s done.
Now I just have to wait for it to heal and then I can finally get the crown put on it and start looking for a new dentist.
