Second place

Tomorrow I will have worked for my current employer for One thousand Six Hundred Eighty Four days.

Why is 1684 the magic number?
I’ve worked at 2 other companies that number of days and only 1 other company more than that.
So, assuming something doesn’t go dreadfully wrong and I’m fired by the end of tomorrow, this job is going to become at least the second longest I’ve worked for any company.
First place is still more than a year away, so who knows?




I guess it is good. They certainly pay me well here. There are other problems, but there are no jobs I’ve worked where there weren’t some problems. And, this is not the worst by far.

At the 9 jobs I’ve worked since I got out of school, I’ve had 15 different bosses. Ranking them, my current situation comes in at 7, so pretty much the middle of the pack.
(I will point out that my boss shows up on the chart other places too. I ranked him higher at the last place we worked together as he was less contradictory there…)



I do go on about the frustrations here a lot, but really it is better than many of the places I’ve worked. It pays well. They submit patent applications for the things I design. The work I do gets acknowledged and respected at the top levels of the company.
I’ve had it much worse than this in the past.

I still hope, as it moves into 2nd place, that it gets better and better.
