This week, I got my tests.
My ancestry report was pretty much what I expected. 80% British islands the rest north west Europe. Given a reasonably high amount of Neanderthal genes, I guess my family was living in Europe before modern humans.
I’ve lived in the same place more than 25 years, so we’re sedentary that way.
The analysis of the expected traits as somewhat interesting to me. This isn’t all of them, but the ones I found interesting.
First, the ones they got fairly right:
Bald Spot-Likely no bald spot
Yeah, that’s true.
Early Hair Loss-Likely no hair loss Again, fairly true.
Eye Color-Likely blue or green eyes
My eyes change color from blue to yellow, but spend the vast majority of their time as green.
Freckles-Likely little freckling
For reasons even my doctor doesn’t understand, most are on my feet.
Hair Texture-Likely straight or wavy
Reasonably straight.
Unibrow-Likely at least a little unibrow
It was more pronounced when I was younger.
Deep Sleep-Less likely to be a deep sleeper
Yeah, I don’t sleep well or deeply.
OK, now the ones that don’t like up.
Lactose Intolerance-Likely tolerant
Nope. I’m very intolerant and allergic too. So, I get very sick if I eat some.
Caffeine Consumption- Likely to consume less
While I do know folks who drink more. I have around 2 to 3 liters of caffeinated soda a day. That seems to be above average.
Genetic Weight-Predisposed to weigh less than average
Great googly moogly! I am a big fat guy! If I am predisposed to weight less, imagine what I’d be like without that! I’d be the size of a house! I had no idea my genes were holding me back from a world record in this!
Muscle Composition-Common in elite power athletes
Wow. Sure. That’s totally true in the big fat guy!
