Saturday morning we set off to western Massachusetts.

Turkeys were seen…

The Renaissance Center is on the edge of the University of Massachusetts campus so we go through the center of Amherst to get there.

It’s a converted house donated to the university.

It’s got a nice view.

It’s been a few years since I’ve done a presentation there, but I still enjoy going.

A few dozen folks show up.

Of course, I like places with lots of books.

The guest speaker was from Switzerland and is very interesting.

Some of the speakers were folks we’ve seen before.

Still interesting stuff.

At lunch we were given time to look around the place.

And, we were allowed in the book vault. I love the book vault.

Jeff the librarian is always happy to show off his oldest books and ones they just got.

This one has interesting things, including a phoenix I use as an icon sometimes.

The guest speaker was very interested too.

The afternoon started with a discussion group that was held outside.

The question was about the historical nature of historical sword fighting.

The real subject was is making it a sport still historical. But, it took almost an hour to get people to admit that.

Still, nice view.

I liked that the guest speaker brought academic papers with him he passed around to support his arguments. I like people who site their sources, and having them as hard copies with you impresses me.

The first talk in the afternoon was from the curator of the Met in NYC.

Then, the guest speaker did the final talk on statistical analysis of sword techniques.

When we left we found spring had happened all over our car.

Then, driving home by cows.

Then we met zosh, yebo, palusbuteo& musesrealm for dinner.
