Maybe I was in a spy movie…
Apr. 11th, 2017 09:11 pmWhen I got to Atlanta yesterday I got my rental car and drove up to Ball Ground.
It was a bit strange that the car came with only half a tank of gas, as it’s usually full. But, I pointed that out when I got it to make sure I wasn’t charged with more.
Visiting the supplier I had gone to see, we all went out to lunch. I drove.
As the sales guy for the supplier got in the back seat, he stopped.
"Should I move your suitcase to the trunk?" he asked.
"I don’t have a suitcase," I said. "I’m only here for the day, so only have my computer case with me."
I looked. A carryon sized bag was behind the driver seat. It was about the same color as the seat, so I hadn’t noticed it when I got in the car.
I didn’t touch it. When I returned the car I told the rental car people and they said they’d take care of it.
The odds are it was someone’s laundry with maybe a book to read on the plane.
But, who knows?
Maybe I wandered into a spy movie. The car was half full of gas because it was hidden there in the rental area and not really ready for someone to get in and drive off.
(I’m a gold member, so that’s what I do. They said "take one in this row you like". I took the first because I’m lazy.)
Maybe it was full of diamonds! Or, snakes! Or a bomb! Or a murder weapon! Or drugs!
I’m just as glad I made them deal with it. Even if it was dirty laundry.
I didn’t even touch it.
So, the super spy who lost the gadget needed for his mission won’t have any reason to come after me…

Date: 2017-04-12 10:09 am (UTC)I am so sorry.
But you didn't open it, so you should be okay, as long as you didn't leave any food near the, uh, bag, right, it's just a bag.
--By the bye, just curious, no special reason for asking, but you don't feel like you're being followed, do you?

That was stronger than my curiosity...

DM: "Why not? It could be diamonds! Or electronics! Or many fine things!"
FH: "It could also be dirty laundry. Or snakes."
DM: "Good point. OK... roll a Will save to Resist."

Date: 2017-04-12 11:58 pm (UTC)The rental place I had to go with in desperation when my previous Soob decided to go hug a tree, there was an aluminum wheel in the trunk. I didn't ask for a spare, tire-less wheel. I only found out about it when I made a sharp turn and heard a "thunk", and when I got to my destination opened the truck, and voila.
(the only place that would take my bank card, everyone else wants credit cards)
Anyway.
