Tuesday had strange weather. The day was nice.

But, towards sunset some fog rolled in.

This led to bad traffic at rush hour.

The sun broke through at points. But, it moved in and out as I drove home.

But, I guess it still led to bad traffic.

The next day the weather was nice.

And, the leaves are near peak.

Due to traffic, I drove home back roads through Berlin. As [livejournal.com profile] manue7a had asked about it last week, here are some photos of the Berlin near me.

That led me to go home by the Reservoir. Very pretty.

Thursday on the way home it started to rain.

This meant some different roads again.

Friday my drive home started with a big rainbow outside of work.

It is hard to see in the photos, but it was actually a double rainbow with a fainter one outside the main one.

As I drove home, the rain got worse and worse.

A major storm was moving over the area.

Many of the roads were very bad or closed altogether.

After I got home we lost power for a short bit. Soon after, our doorbell rang. This was a surprise as we weren’t expecting anyone. It turned out to be [livejournal.com profile] palusbuteo who had been on his way home past where we live. The police had stopped him telling him the road was flooded, so he stayed at our place for a few hours until the floor receded.
(We live on a hill. That is often a good thing for us.)

About 11 the roads showed clear on the news and maps, so he headed home.

This morning there were still signs of flooding.

We did some housework and I washed my wedding rings before we set out.

On our way home from our errands my wife asked to go the hilly way home so she could take photos.
It was cool.

Other wedding rings...
They are rubber O-Rings that I wear for a day and then wear the next.
When I get enough together, I wash them and start over.

i have long skinny fingers with really big bony knuckles. like my dad. he couldnt wear his wedding ring, couldnt keep it on because it had to be big enough to go over the knuckle...and if it was big enough to go over the knuckle, it was too big to stay on.

i discovered that if i bent (only) the backside of the ring to be rectangle rather than round, i could put the ring on turned sideways (the wide rectangle) to get over my big knuckle, then turn it upright (narrow rectangle) and it stayed on and stayed put WITHOUT spinning! but the ring i wear is cheap, and bending it out of shape doesnt hurt it.

i like the idea of an o-ring band. its still there, still symbolic.

How many wedding rings do you have?

Such pretty colors. Ours are peaking in the metro area now, too.

I don't know. I've bought a few hundred over the years.
But, they wear out over time and I get rid of them.
I'm not sure how many are around now. Probably in the 50 or so range...

I can't wear metal, so I use o-rings for my wedding ring. I get them in bags of 100.
I wear them for a day then, put them aside. After a while I wash them and reuse them.
Eventually they wear out.

The autumn colours are brilliant.

Your Berlin is somewhat smaller than ours. ;-)

I love those beautiful autumn colours. I wish there were more trees around my place, the ones we do have are evergreen... which are nice in their own way.
