Yesterday afternoon I got the notice that my wife’s new computer was ready.
It wasn’t due until next Monday, so that was good news.

I stopped by the Apple store and got it. Took less than 5 minutes. Walked
in, showed them the bar code they texted me, showed an ID to prove it was
me, signed I got it and walked out with it.

I got it home, took it out of the box and plugged it in. I plugged in the
keyboard and mouse. I hit the power button.
It asked which wireless network and then the password for it.
It said “I see there is an Apple automated backup on this network. Should
I restore from one of the two computers backed up there?”
I told it yes, and gave it the password for my wife’s old computer.

It took a several hours as there had been a lot of data on the old drive.
I went to bed before it finished.

This morning when I got up, the computer was just as the old one had been.
Even all the icons on the desktop were right where my wife had left them on
the old computer when it died last month.

I opened a few things to make sure it worked. It did.

So, maybe I am an Apple fanboy.
But, that’s how computers should work.

I probably watched too much Star Trek growing up.
But, I think it should be:
“Computer, restore all my data.” (Maybe in a Scottish accent…)
“Working…”

And, with this computer, it is as closer to that than the other computers I
work with.

Nightsky and I are slowly migrating to Apple products.

Back in the day we bought MS systems and enjoyed beta testing new releases...then it started to get really old...and then it got really irritating.

We have other things we want to spend our time and energy on and prefer our technology to work as advertised.

I've been impressed with Apple so far.
