Cookie contention

There is a specific kind of cookie I really like. I’ve seen ones like it
called Jaffa cakes, but the ones I like have raspberry instead of orange in
them.

The supermarket chain my wife and I most often use seems to have stocking
issues. If a company makes several things and only one sells well, they
don’t restock the popular one until the others are gone. (I assume they
have to buy packages of several kinds, so can’t just get what sells most.
The other theory is they would rather have out product that isn’t popular
so they don’t have to restock it much…)

This often results in large holes on the shelves where product should be,
but isn’t.

Yesterday at lunch time I went to the store. As I went past where my
cookies normally sit there was the big empty hole. Two older women were
next to it pushing their cart.
I looked in the hole to see if any of my favorites were all the way in the
back.
There was, as is often the case, a large number of orange ones. But, the
hole where the raspberry ones should be was very deep.

“We got the last one!” one of the two women said to me. “They won’t
restock for the rest of the week and we got it!”

I reached all the way into the hole and pulled out another box.

“There was one more!” the other woman shouted.
“Long arms,” I said and walked past them.

“You got lucky!” the first one said. “You should never look for cookies on
a Monday! We’ll get them first!”

“Monday does seem to be a bad day for this,” I agreed and turned the corner
to the next aisle.
They seemed to be arguing over having left a box for me to find in the back.
I moved on.

My Kroger carries these and I really like them, but don't get them terribly often.

What I'd give for being taller or having longer arms! I can never reach items way in the back, I either have to hunt down someone to get it or go without.

They really should put one of those reach extender things on each aisle.

Pim's cookies are everywhere here in the stores. I don't like the combo fruit/chocolate but many people adore these cookies

Very lucky. If the orange ones are those Pim's ones that yshaloo posted a picture of, I have tried those. One of my friends in the US sent them to me. I think that raspberry would be absolutely lovely though.

My favourite biscuits right now are chocolate covered with marshmallows and jam. I rarely buy them because I have little self control when they are in the house :P

I love raspberry Pims. I like the orange ones too. Ours seem to sell out at the same rate so I always have some in stock.
