Last night it got down below freezing. It was still fairly chilly when we set off for practice today.

I did notice the liquor store got their sign right today…

We picked up the swords and headed south from Worcester to the practice area.

We passed my wife’s workplace on the way. (She works in the far right building.)

About the time we pulled off the highway in Connecticut, Tom let us know he wasn’t going to be there.

These days I like the fall. Back when I was young and I had to rake them up, not as much fun.

Folks talk about the first robin of spring. What about the last one of fall?

Without Tom there, we had a wait of an hour until the new folks got there.

The plan had been to have sword practice outdoors.

Then, it started snowing.

Not all that hard. And, it is difficult to photograph.

The new guy had not expected this. He joined after the worst of winter last year.

So, we did the sword practice in the garage.

I did my best to do Tom’s fight with him. Don’t know how well it worked.

Then, the sun came out again.

But, we stayed inside until we took off towards home.

At times the weather was nice.

And, the colors nice.

But, there were times you could see the snow falling out of the sky in areas.

And, the clouds across the valley where we live weren’t too friendly.

Such pretty colors. I'm jealous. Jealous of the snow, too, since we never get any down here.

I've noticed a few friends from your part of the world commenting about snow. Is it normal to snow in mid-October? It seems quite early (although we've also had abnormally warm weather in October so...the weather can be strange).

It is a bit early. But, not super early.
It realy was just a snow shower that lasted about 10 minutes on an unusually cold day.
For mid-October that's about right.

IF we get a lot of snow this time of year it is bad. The trees aren't ready for it.
That happened a few years ago: http://fbhjr.livejournal.com/503456.html
Lots of damage.

Snow showers, fine. But, anything big before late November/early December would be very bad.
