My brother’s birthday

Today my little brother turns 50. For some reason that makes me feel more
old than when I turned 50 a couple of years ago.

I have some strong opinions about my brother. But, I can’t say if they are
deserved or not.
I haven’t seen him since our father’s funeral, now more than 15 years ago.
Nor have I talked with him in any way since then.
Our only communications are the e-cards I send him once a year (and did
today) and the strange letters he sometimes writes me:

I did not at all like the person he had become when he turned 35.
Maybe he is different at 50.
He probably is.
The question is: At 50 is he someone I would like?
There is certainly no evidence to make me think that would be true.

I wish him well.
I will continue to avoid him.

It sounds as if keeping family at a distance is wise.
