My wife and I have committed to going to Wales in a couple of months and have bought our tickets.

Now, it is a question of planning out what we’re going to see.

We are going to have 4 1/2 days and there are 5 days worth of things we’d like to do.
There is a bunch of stuff near Cardiff that we are going to see. Not an option.
(The green area on the map.) Sadly, 1/2 day is not enough for it, so we’re going to spend 1 1/2 days there.
That leaves 3 days and 4 more areas.
(Keep in mind we drive three hours each way as a day trip to go to museums fairly often. So, if you say "those things are a long ways apart", yeah some are.)
We’ve already cut out some things from the first pass. (We already saw the horde… http://fbhjr.livejournal.com/521587.html )

My wife and I were discussing it and she said "we know people who have been there. You should ask them."
So, a survey. Even if you haven’t been there, feel free to vote. I make no promises whatsoever that we will abide by the results.

The choices are:
South West Wales (Yellow): Lots of Castles. Neither of us has been there. Some pond where legend has it a watery tart lobbing scimitars might live.

North Wales (Orange): Lots of Castles. Neither of us has been there. Some pond that might be where Excaliber was chucked. (Yeah, there is an Arthurian theme here. We’re sword fighters. Get over it.)

The Royal Armory in Leeds (Blue): Neither of us have been there. My wife and I used to volunteer and do sword shows at an Armory Museum here in the states. We met and took classes from folks from the Leeds place. We’ve wanted to see that museum for all of this millennium.

Southern England (Purple): I have been there, but my wife has not. (http://fbhjr.livejournal.com/877443.html ) Collections of rocks in circles. Nice stained glass. Graffiti on the hills.

So, pick 3 of the 4.
We’ll ignore the results. But, if you’ve been to any, heard about any, or just really like any, go ahead and say in comments. We’ll pay more attention to that.

I lived in Leeds (but never went to the Royal Armoury whilst there...lulz...but heard great things about it, though) and have been to North Wales. Will you be travelling by car or train?

As someone who's only ever travelled the UK by train, I'd recommend going to things clustered together just to make things easier and save time. So probably go to Leeds another time. There's loads to see in Yorkshire and up north anyway, so you guys could probably make that into a separate trip tbph.

We are going to be driving. But, things clustered together still sounds like a good idea to me...

You know me. I'm a 200+ coaster-riding geek.

But if you're into vintage amusement parks (or even like to play the original Rollercoaster Tycoon) Blackpool Pleasure Beach gave me and Da Missus such a fit of silly giggles. It's EVER so delightfully tacky. In a good way.

We're bigger on the rocks piled on top of each other. So, I don't think so for this trip. Maybe if we had more time.

Understood. I mean, you perform in medieval garb every week--so how could you not?

That's why the armory with the big sword and armor collection is such a draw as well...

I know too little to do anything other than pick at random, but I'm sure wherever you two go, it'll be an outstanding trip!

You've already got the Cardiff area covered, and that was amazing. The castles are so fascinating, I can't imagine missing southwest Wales or Northern Wales.

I've never been there so I think whatever you get to see will be amazing!

Leeds looks amazing, but it's a LOT more transit time than the others. Next trip?
