I count things

One of the lab technicians asked me a question about something today.
“To answer that I’d have to go to the lab in the other building,” I said.
“Is your question worth my climbing the 57 stairs to get the answer?”

“You know how many stairs it is?” he asked.
“22 to the upper floor, then 35 up to the next building. I don’t count the
two at the door way as there are two down at our door way so they cancel
out.”

“It’s really 57 stairs?” he asked.
“Unless you go up the stairs in the lab. That’s 25 to the upper level so
it would be a total of 60.”
“How do you know this?”
“I count them as I walk back and forth,” I said.

“Is this OCD?” he asked me.
“Follow me to my computer,” I said.

“This is it broken down by type of M&M:”


"What do you think?" I asked.
“OK,” he said. “I believe you know how many stairs it is. No, I don’t
need you to go get the answer.”
“Thank you.”

I don't graph things as much as I used to. Maybe I should! I remember going nuts graphing things when I first learned how to do that in excel. What to graph...
