18 take 2

tjoel2 was doing a meme where you say “I’d like to play” and
get a number between 15 and 50. You then have to post that many things
about yourself.
I was given 18 and took more than a week writing several pages about 18
different times in my life.
But, this post has been eaten by the internet. Sad. So, 18 other things
as I think of them. Far less specific than what I had in mind, but there
you go.

Anyone want numbers from me? Let me know.

1) I am 18,847 days old as I write this. (27,139,715 minutes as I write
this sentence.)

2) I have been married to my wife for 7927 days. (11,414,956 minutes)

3) I was one of 2.5 children in my family. I’m told that’s fairly average.

4) I was child 1.5

5) I have not spoken to my sister since 1994. That’s by her choice and I
wish she’d change her mind.

6) I have not spoken with my brother since 2000. That’s by my choice and I
will not change my mind.

7) I have worked at my current job for 379 days (546,167 hours)

8) I am a mechanical engineer

9) In my career I have designed ice cream makers, music synthesizers,
telecom equipment, awnings for RVs (caravans), laser markers, automatic
inspection systems, cubicle office furniture, giant robot freezers and now
non-giant cryogenic robot freezers.

10) I have had 11 different patent applications filed for things I have
invented. None have gone through.

11) My worst job was the first job. I hope that always to be true.

12) The ice cream maker place had an iron foundry on site. At 22 I was
made floor manager there. The workers were convicts on a work release
program. Some of them had been in jail longer than I had been alive at
that point.

13) The convicts were better people than the management.

14) I really liked the music synthesizer place and am still good friends
with some of the folks I met working there.

15) When in engineering school I worked at the local science museum running
the planetarium and telescope on weekends.

16) The farthest I’ve been from where I was born in Boston, Massachusetts,
USA is Hong Kong, China.

17) I’d love to travel more if I had more time and money.

18) I wish the internet had not eaten my first list…

After my sister was born, my father's first wife died.
My brother and I came along after he remairred.

So, he had 3 children and she 2. The average being 2.5.

I was my mother's first and father's second. So, 1.5.

I have some numbers from another LJ friend that I still need to write facts for. So, I won't ask for more.

I like your facts. They're very interesting. I'm not surprised that a lot of the convicts were better people than the management, I'm sure many of them wanted to start over and be better people.
