Glad you got to see these two exhibits, I thought they were excellent, too.
Although I felt the Da Vinci one was a little misleading, I was expecting more Da Vinci or just his work, but I did like and appreciate the other artists. Although I was disappointed they had enlargements of works from his "Birds" book, and they didn't seem that good quality to me.
I was so thrilled to see all of the Hokusai stuff; and it was a bit overwhelming (typical MFA major exhibitions), but still very cool to see how prolific and varied his work is, I learned a lot more about his work than I'd ever known before. I also really enjoyed the paper toys and punch-out scenes. The MFA had (still on?) a whole collection of prints that are not punched out, and those I found really fun and interesting, both from a toy aspect but also how the prints are designed.
I agree, the Demon-hunters were pretty badass. Did you see the huge Phoenix screen?
