This morning started with breakfast on the ship as we sailed to Lunga Scotland.

We got there just after noon.

The Zodiacs were put in the water and folks started loading. By long tradition, my wife and I are almost always near the end of the list of folks going ashore.

We needed wet gear, but not too cold. It was much warmer than Antarctica, so similar equipment since they’re the same boats, but not as many layers.

We got onto our Zodiac just as the rain started to get bad.

The rocks were very slippery so they stoped the landings while the rain passed. We circled the puffins in the water while waiting for the rain to let up and things to continue.

I took some great shots while trying to keep ahold of my iPhone in the waves…

The rain did let up some and we got to shore and were given the “don’t be stupid” lecture by the expedition leader.

And, the rocks were very slippery and uneven, so it was good to have the warnings.

Eventually you reach the grass, which is still slippery, but less dangerous.

Then a beach about as rocky as the one we go to at home, and the climb up to the top of the cliff.

My wife is not big on heights. And, it was quite slippery. So, she decided to stay at the bottom and take photos of me climbing the cliffs that she could show to the insurance company if anything went wrong.

You can not see me at the top unless I got very close to the edge.

It doesn’t look that high until you realize you’re up above the ship and it’s 9 decks tall plus smokestacks.

Lots of puffins on the cliffs.

Then, I had to make my way down the slippery path.

We took the zodiac back to the ship and had afternoon tea while we watched them retrieve the zodiacs.

Later we had a nice dinner and went to bed fairly early.

A shame she couldn't do the cliffs, but tbh both of you did more than I could probably: I get motion sick very easily and probably could not have sat on a pitching tender (or zodiac I mean) for as long as you did without either panicking or losing that nice breakfast.
