Tonight my wife and I were going to go see "Kingsman: The Secret Service" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2802144/?ref_=hm_otw_t1
As we’re expecting another foot of snow over the weekend, we decided we should see it tonight.
Last night when we checked movie times it said 8:20.
"No problem," I said. "That’s plenty of time to get home form work, have some dinner and get to the movies in time."
At lunch when I checked the movie times it said 7:20, not 8:20.
"OK," I thought. "As long as I get home by 6, still plenty of time."
So, when I got home by 6:20 I ate quickly.
We set off for the movie with 35 minutes to go the 6 miles.
Our first problem was when the highway to the Worcester North theater was closed because a pickup went off the highway into the snow. Off the bridge off the highway.

"Don’t worry," I said. "We can get off at the next exit and take the surface roads up to the theater."
We came around the bend of the highway and saw half a mile of cars trying to do that backed up onto the highway.
"Maybe we should go to the theater on the south side of the city," I said. "We’ve still got 15 minutes to get there and it’s only 6 miles away."
We drove over and got there with 10 minutes to spare.
Zero parking spaces. We tried both sides of the theater and 20 rows away. Still no parking and it was time for the movie to start.
"There is the theater east of here," I said. "It’s 20 miles away and the movie there starts in 20 minutes. But, it’s 65 miles per hour speed limit the whole way, so we can make it in 19 minutes."
I headed to the highway entrance just as the police blocked it so two extra wide trucks could slowly go past.
"We’re cursed not to see this movie," I said.
So, we went to the supermarket, bought a cake, came home and watched this week’s Arrow’s episode on iTunes.
So, it wasn’t all bad.

Date: 2015-02-14 03:15 am (UTC)Not only did a pickup go off the highway this morning, what you ran into was apparently the overhead sign on 190 where the exit for the theatre is
had a rotted foundation & supports, the sign was "swaying in the wind" and was apparently about to collapse. They had to shut down the highway in both directions
and bring in an emergency crew to remove the entire sign frame and supports.
So, egads, Worcester.
