Flowers at the museum, Part 1
Jan. 31st, 2015 03:44 pmThis weekend, the Worcester Art Museum (http://www.worcesterart.org) near us is having their annual "Flora in Winter" event where they bring in florists to decorate the museum and match up pieces to artwork.
I normally take a lot of photos. But, even more than usual for this event. So, I’ve broken it down into three sections.
The art museum is right across the street from where my wife and I met.

Always nice to be back there.
We got there before the museum opened. Normally it is VERY crowded. Not so bad this year.

Maybe the snow is keeping people away.

One of the things they were promoting on the screen above the admission’s desk was "Nude drawings in the galleries".

It made me wonder who had to be nude. At least no one came around and asked me to take my clothes off. But, I didn’t try and draw anything either…
In general, the museum was a lot less crowded that normal. We had rooms completely to ourselves.

Even the big rooms weren’t that full.

Of course we visited one of my favorite paintings, of what this area looked like 250 years ago.

We stopped by the arms and armor exhibit they took from the old Higgins Armory where we used to be involved with the historical sword research group. They’ve added to the exhibit since it was at the other museum.

They do still have my favorite sword ever on exhibit.

This is much like the one we saw at my cousin’s in Florida last month.

I’m not totally sure why this is in the arms and armor exhibit, but it’s good it is considered museum worthy, right?

There were some special visiting Raphael paintings.

Of course, benches and chairs.

My wife took photos of me taking photos of things.

I don’t remember seeing this painting before, but like it quite a bit.

We did get to see some of the rare storage spaces under the stairs.

For reasons not clear to me the armored dog that used to be at the Higgins museum has become a feature of the art museum. But, looks like he may have taken up cross dressing.

We did visit the shop.

Then, had lunch at the cafe at the museum.

It is good we came early as by the time we left people were double parking to get in.

It was a nice trip. I’m certainly glad we went.
