It’s been a three day weekend for me because of "Labor day". But, my wife doesn’t get it off because the university where she works is starting classes this week and she has to get everything ready.

To celebrate the holiday, [livejournal.com profile] cissa & [livejournal.com profile] cosmicirony invited us over for dinner yesterday. It was a very nice dinner, as it always is.
But, as we sat there, all of our phones went off at once with an emergency signal.

A tornado warning for our area, specifically calling out the town in which we lived and the town where we were visiting them.

We didn’t worry about it too much as they are in the shadow of a large hill. But, we kept an eye on the radar just in case.

After about half an hour the alert was cancelled and all went back to normal.

By then we were quite stuffed up from cat and dog fur and made our way home.
(The company and food are always great, but we do reach our limits on fur.)

It turns out there was a tornado that went through Worcester fairly close to us and very close to [livejournal.com profile] palusbuteo.

If you extended the line up to the right about another 2 miles you’d come to our place and a couple miles after that to where we were visiting. So, I’m glad it was a weak tornado and didn’t last long.

Today I went to bring my wife lunch from the Chinese restaurant near where she works with the good dumplings and noodles.
The day was supposed to be 100% rain all day, but instead was sunny and warm.
So, why these two hit each other and blocked the road is a mystery to me.

Going around them made lunch a bit late. But, I got there.

You can see the warm lunch and cold drinks on the table in the center of my wife’s office.

(Yes, I am obsessed with the thermal camera…)

All in all, a very nice day for what was supposed to be all rain.

I too am glad it was a weak storm. I was blissfully unaware, watching a movie.
I am glad you had such a nice visit Sunday. The thermal camera app is very cool.

We never got a Tornado warning, I got two Flash Flood warnings via EBS on my phone. We didn't even know there was a tornado until we started
hearing reports well after the fact. Musesrealm claims she can "feel" tornadoes, having grown up in Colorado which gets tornadoes. She felt "nothing".
I even spent some time out on our [pathetically small] deck during part of the storm, even apparently During the earliest phase of the tornado
as it formed almost a mile up from us. There was a very brief gust of wind, and a very heavy downpour…So hard I had thought I was hearing hail for a moment.

We were watching shows about renovating or selling one's home, and NCIS.

Bill MacMillian said the tornado came by Two Blocks from where he is, but they're OK.

Too close for comfort for me.

I'm glad it was a false alarm and it's pretty good they send warnings to your phone so you can be prepared.
