At different times my wife and I both worked for the same natural history museum/zoo. This is the polar bear that lived there at the time.

On the right is Jack, the person who introduced my wife to me 31 years 13 day and 40 minutes ago.
On the left is [livejournal.com profile] gilden who has been my friend for more than a quarter of a century.
I have no idea when this photo was taken, but it is in the apartment where my wife and I now live. So post October 3rd 1993.

On our second trip to Ireland we took this boat out to the Aran Islands.

This is me in front of a fountain. I look damp. I have no idea when this happened.

This is me with a stuffed duck. Yes, I know what is going on. Can you guess?

Sometimes I must defend the laundry with steel!

This is a dam near where we live.

At the previous place we had sword practice, we had to drive past it.

This is my wife by the water in Ireland.

This is my wife in Vermont.

This is from the 1990 BYOS party.

This is my wife and her aunt on the left. This was some Christmas before her aunt and uncle moved to Florida.

This is the first birthday my wife celebrated after we met.

This is my wife getting ready to "punch" one of the folks in the old sword troupe.

This is my wife performing her last sword fight with the old sword troupe.

That particular faire seemed to get a high level of nostalgia for people. I’ve never been quite sure why. It was very close to our house, which is all I thought it had going for it.

This is Mr & Mrs [livejournal.com profile] evrgreen at their wedding. Well, after the official ceremony.

All of us who used to work together at New England Digital took a photo together.

Sadly, we’ve drifted apart over time.

I've got to say, Jack looks rather dashing.

This is me with a stuffed duck. Yes, I know what is going on. Can you guess?

Sometimes I must defend the laundry with steel!

What are the stories behind these two photos?

I'm impressed by how well your memory is at times—you remember that the photo of the BYOS party in this post was taken in 1990, for example!

I'm sure Jack would be happy to hear that. He is a college professor now and had actually been teaching over in China a couple of years ago. I'm told he's moving back to the US this fall to teach somewhere out west.

If I can find what the duck and laundry photos were used for I will post them tonight.

One of the things about the BYOS parties is that in 23 years we never had it in the same place twice. So, if I can recognize where it is, I can often tell which party it was. (Assuming I can remember which place when in which order.)

Wow, never in the same place twice? I'm guessing you guys had a lot of (different) attendees for that to happen!

That was one of the other reasons we stopped having the party, we were running out of places to have it.

Some people hosted it more than once, but only if they had moved to a new place.
