I’ve had the same key to our apartment for most of the 20 years we’ve lived here.

When leaving this morning I turned it to lock the door as I always do. But:

Yeah, nothing like breaking a key off in your lock at 6 in the morning. It was quite hard to get back out. I couldn’t go in for a tool as I had locked it while breaking it.
And, I didn’t want to wake my wife by pounding on the door.
I did finally get it out. And, when I got home today my wife let me in.
But, I am sad to have broken the key…

Date: 2014-06-11 11:32 am (UTC)I almost broke my car ignition key a little while ago when the gas cap door wouldn't open and [Dad] suggested
I pop it open with a key, which nearly bent the damn thing a 90 degree angle.
Hope you're able to get a replacement without much hassle.
