Cousin & art

It was a nice sunny morning. As much as I don’t like the plant sex going on, I can’t deny it is nice to have the green back.

Our cousin Thomas was up in New England and stopped by to see us. He had intended to the other day, but was delayed by rain. (Like a baseball game.) So, it didn’t work out.
Today we decided to meet at the Worcester Art Museum.

My wife was off getting her hair done, so he and I wandered the museum until she could catch up.

He’s a geologist and I’m and engineer.
This means looking at the art work we got into a discussion about which player is doing better in this chess match.

I’m still not sure.

We also discussed the movie American Hustle and this painting’s appearance in it.

We wandered through the galleries just browsing. But, we were too slow and a docent came up and talked about the paintings with us.

Lots was said about the "green demon".

But, we listened and nodded.
And, of course, benches!

We did also go see the swords and armor they moved over from the closed Higgins museum.

It was nice to see some of it again. And, certainly more brightly displayed.

They didn’t have as much to touch and try. I did put on the glove, but had trouble getting my hand back out of it.

Thomas didn’t seem to get stuck in it like I did.

I’m pretty sure they have stuff that wasn’t in Higgins.

They seem to have done a good job with it.

I’m not sure about the pink horse…

We had a nice lunch at the museum and then Thomas headed south again in the nice day.

It was nice to see him, even if only for a couple of hours.

Date: 2014-06-08 12:14 pm (UTC)That I go through museums so fast I see more of the bench at the end while waiting for everyone to catch up than the exhibits themselves.
That's not totally false either.
But now I do pay particular attention to the benches and have found the ones in museums are often quite interesting.
