This morning we found that it is more than pollen in the air based on what was on the car.

But, we set off to Western Massachusetts anyhow.

We got to Springfield without any problem.

Our first show was at the main library, which is VERY large compared with the branches.

Sadly, they have no parking. You have to park across the street and cross without a crosswalk. Not the best planned thing.
The parking across the street seemed like some people’s nightmares.

Imagine bad dreams of being stuck in high school and ending up buying a condo made from an old high school.
Yet, the lot was crowded…

The shows were indoors and there wasn’t much space.

But, it went well enough.

Devon and I demonstrated "Bonetti’s defense" from "The Princess Bride".

(The story goes he was beaten with an oar in a pub by the docks. So, we think his defense is duck when an oar is swung at you.)

Then, off to the next branch of the library.

And, their flowers were out.

We had lunch from the food truck across the street. It was pretty good.

It did cloud up quite a bit just before the show.

Despite that, the shows went well and we had folks come watch.

After the shows we drove north to Northampton to meet our friend Jeff and his wife Katherine for dinner.

The car in front of us seemed to have backed into a Leprechaun.

We parked in the garage there where the sign seems to indicate that strong coffee and strong women leads to free parking. Well, free for the first hour and pretty cheap after that.
It isn’t a connection I would have made myself.

We found where we were going and had a nice dinner.

I did worry a bit about why the restaurants above us needed shields installed.

And, this sign didn’t make me feel any better about it.

After dinner we headed back home.

The Connecticut river valley has some really nice views.

I haven’t lived there in two dozen years, but I still miss those views.

That is a lovely view.

So it seemed you had a few more people watching than your last lot of libraries?

I would love to find parking that is 50 cents an hour!

There were more people this time at the second show that was outdoors. The first indoor show was about the same.

After reading of the drama coach who hasn't learned ASL, I cannot resist:

"Real Steel?...The Longest Yard?...Knifes in White Satin?"

I don't know. You may have been able to resist if you had put some effort into it...

http://www.phoenixswords.com/fbhjr/20140531/SL-203.jpg is broken.

I don't feel like not having a crosswalk would be a big deal?

Fixed now. Sorry about that.

Using that Bec de Corbin to smash open the coconut so as to demonstrate why it is so dangerous...

The not having a crosswalk was an inconvenience when you're carrying bags of swords and other equipment across a busy road. Without a crosswalk the cars are not under any legal requirement to let you across. (Even with one some folks don't let you.)
We got everything there and back, we just had to stand there holding while waiting for kind drivers longer than normally needed.

Nice views indeed. There is a Northampton in the UK. Te town's football club has just won promotion to the third tier of our leagues.

Many of the towns here in New England have names taken from the original. When I was over there in April the names were just like at home, but the towns weren't. (OK, the names in Wales were very different...)

50c an hour for parking is unheard of here!

Most places here it is many times that. At least in a parking garage.

The pollen has been very bad this spring.
This time of year isn't as bad for me. My worst is the tree pollen which is at the start of spring. Now it is mostly flowers. That's bad, but not as bad.

Wow. I don't think I could live in a condo that had been a high school. Nightly nightmares!

And haha, that poor leprechaun! :P

Glad the shows went well despite tight parking or tight space. But that's how we roll, eh?

Also love seeing those hills in the distance.

No doubt about that. These aren't even close to the strangest we've done.
The mob owned night club was much stranger than this...
