Visiting the MFA
May. 29th, 2014 03:10 pmIt was a very nice morning. Just the right temperature, clear sky and everything green.

My wife also took these two days off, so we set off to Boston.

In heavy traffic on the way in we saw the "Moo Bus".

I suspect that any kids that have to ride the Moo Bus to work might be in for teasing.
We went to the Museum of Fine Arts.

You can compare what it looks like in the fall here: http://www.phoenixswords.com/fbhjr/MFA-Oct9/MFA-01.jpg
We went to the jewelry exhibit first as it is usually very crowded, but today empty.

These ones were strange. Preserved hummingbirds.

I’ve always liked this one.

This is a very strange instrument.

This is us looking in the mirror that lets you see the painting on the ceiling.

Of course, the art museum, so benches. Or, chairs.

Of course, president Washington gets the good bench.

And, we found at least one sword…

The main exhibit we went to see was very interesting. It was paintings brought over from Italy for the special exhibit that might or might not be from a certain master, Caravaggio. They had the painting and then the opinions.

He certainly seemed to have had an interesting life…

We also went through the modern art area. I liked this one, but maybe not for the expected reasons.

I like it because I see a happy dragon in the trees.

I really liked this one.

The dream of self close, but never quite the person you are. That’s the stuff I like.
My wife thinks this painting about wanting to go to Tahiti and finding it horrible might have inspired a TV show we watched this year. Tahiti, it’s a magical place…

This one was very strange. A 5 minute video of people using plungers on their heads.

This one was interesting, but made looking at the others more difficult as you had to watch where you were going to avoid hitting it.

This one is very blue.

This one was very cool. It digitized images of whatever was in front of it and displayed the image of it as a greyscale made up of words.
So, that’s me:

I guess I can dramatize, disappear and nag…

This one was interesting, but I think they could have done more. I think it would have been cool if the reflection from the disks did more of changing the supports. But, that’s me.

This must have taken a lot of work.

We were only there a couple of hours and then headed back towards home for lunch.

We had lunch at the Mandarin, a Chinese place we both like.
Then, my wife went to buy some wine as gifts for folks.
I’m now sure how they sort it by "everything in this cart is x dollars" is the best way.

Tonight, the start of our new historical sword research group.
Tomorrow, off to New York City.
Saturday, two sword shows in Springfield.
Sunday, hopefully some rest.
Monday, new job.

The tv show was Marvel's Agents of Shield. It ties in with the superhero movies like The Avengers.
