More adventures with turkeys

About 11 this morning I looked across the parking lot at work and saw a
bunch of turkeys on the side of the hill.


There were a lot of them and they didn’t seem at all concerned by the cars
nearby.

But, the company up the hill has closed, so it is quieter up there too.

Three weeks until Thanksgiving. Maybe I should get my turkey early…

Wild turkey tastes different from farm raised. Just keep that in mind. A plus however is that it is much leaner than farm raised so Holly's poultry allergy wouldn't be as bad.

But, I'm lazy. Why chase one down and do all the work of preparing it when I can go to the store and have it done for me?

Unless you had a shotgun, or bow and arrow, you REALLY wouldn't want to try to catch one of those things alive, even if you could run fast enough (they can run pretty quickly if they need to get some distance from danger before taking flight). The talons on their feet (and the males have even larger spurs) along with their beaks would mean you'd be awfully bloody even if you did manage to catch a live one.

It is currently hunting season for these up here (bow & arrow only) - I never see the darn things when I do have my bow, though.
