Frank, stories about your (damn) parents makes my heart hurt. To have a wonderful son like you and treat him the way they have? I hope there's a special retribution for that, someday... (And I rarely say that sort of thing, but I find I MEAN IT, Frank. I really do.)
We had a situation sort of like that as kids, where TWO of our cats 'disappeared' at the exact same time (???!!!) -- one male and one female. I've always wondered if they were 'helped' to go away. But one thing for sure: Having them put down by a vet would never have happened! Mom and Dad would never have spent the $$$ on that...
I feel so bad about your dog... Poor little boy... (And still hurting...)
