Practice, practice, practice

This week at practice it was only about 75F/24C, which is much better than last week.
Despite the good weather we weren’t sure anyone was going to be there.

But, a few folks did show up.

We set up a makeshift target to use.

Most of us tried it, but not everyone had much success with it.

As she had only brought 1 arrow, this led to lots of time retrieving it.

My wife wanted me to do a video blog for the Phoenix Swords Blog: http://phoenixswords.wordpress.com
So, I recorded something. We’ll see how it comes out.

We did actually do some sword fighting too.

Then, on to the fire.

Setting folks on fire is a good warm up.

I am “blanket man” there to put people out if they catch on fire.

My wife was doing the fueling.

Devon was having some trouble with the meteors today. He said it was his “monkey brain screaming”.

You can tell how worried I am about something by how close I stand with the blanket. You’ll note that I am rarely in the photos.
But...

He didn’t catch fire, but there was some singing...
Dave also had some trouble with the poi.

But, he managed to start over and do OK.

Then, on to the swords.

I do put down the blanket for that.

On the way home we saw they are making good progress on the new bridge between Shrewsbury and Worcester. Only a few more years until they finish it.

Date: 2013-08-05 11:05 am (UTC)We haven't done the fire arrow yet. We're just starting to work out how we would do it.
Next week we'll try with the proper target and the wrapping on the arrow. Then, we may try fire the week after.
