Last night the youngest of our Phoenix Swords members graduated from high
school. He invited my wife and I to come to it, so we drove off in the
rain to try and find his school.

It is a very small Christian school about 20 miles from where we live. We
ended up driving around it several times in the rain before we found the
small, bumpy, road it was on.
And, it was raining quite a bit.

It reminded both of us of the time we got lost in Ireland and ended up on
the road with the chickens. (http://www.fbhjr.livejournal.com/489366.html )
But, that time we were trying to get off of the hill, and this time we were
trying to get to the top.
But, once there, it is a nice view, even in the rain and fog.

John was second in his class and seemed to be very happy about it.

Of course, it was a pretty small class.

But, he did still win an award for achievement from the Worcester paper, so
he had plenty of reason to smile.

The whole ceremony had a very southern church feel to it with lots of
“Amen!” and “Tell it!” during the speeches and the sermon/guest speaker.
And, each of the students was prayed over before being given their diploma.

He and his mom both seemed very happy about it.

(We’re trying to get her to take up the sword as well…)

Then, off to yebo & zosh’s house for game night.

The rain was not letting up and there was a small river flowing down the
hill near their house.

Blue_micha had helped them wallpaper their living room since last time.
I think it looked very nice and especially liked the color.

I was a bit late to be dealt into the superhero card game they were
playing, but was content to watch.

It took them a while to finish, but once they did we played Dixit.

I won by precognition. I was close to winning and palusbuteo wanted to
stop me. So, I picked the number of the winning card before he picked
which one he would use and put my number face down on the table.
When he picked the one to use, it turned out my guess was right, so I won.

By the time we were done, the folks who live there had fallen asleep.

So, we finished up and went home.

Not a bad night all around. But, lots of water about.

I'm sure John was super happy that you went to see him graduate. I know I would be! :D

I have since fallen asleep two more times on the couch. Perhaps they added sleeping powder?
