After 17 hours putting together the Lego Millennium Falcon provided by [livejournal.com profile] saeble for its world wide tour, the time had come to take it apart to proceed to the next step.

We started about 6PM and [livejournal.com profile] blue_micha took apart the first section.

When we got the set the 5000+ pieces were broken into 7 bags in roughly equal sections of assembly.
When we did it, we broke it down by sub-assembly.
So, we ended up with many more bags. But, it should be much easier to assemble next time as you won’t be sorting 800 parts for 4 or 5 assemblies when you open a bag.

This also let us take off sub-assemblies and hand them to different people to take apart.

I’m not going to explain this joke.

Unlike the putting together times, for taking it apart my wife made dinner. She made a very good chicken soup for everyone.
That did stop us while we ate it.

Before everyone could eat the soup, we had more than one nights of assembly taken apart.

We did put cards saying which each assembly was inside the bag.

To be honest, it was hard to keep up with the people taking apart assemblies. I had to have [livejournal.com profile] palusbuteo help me take off parts.

Soon we were down to some basic parts.

For the final base assembly everyone pitched in.

As she did the first, [livejournal.com profile] blue_micha also did the last.

Here’s most of the crew that was working on it tonight.

Then, packing up the bags in the case.

It was a lot of fun. Great thanks to [livejournal.com profile] saeble for sharing this with us!

I love love love how this whole thing became such a social event. How wonderful. I'm more than alittle envious that you have a group of friends who are willing to get involved for so many nights to get it all together but not only that but you help you take it apart.

Where is it flying off to next?

I'm not sure what is the next destination.
There are at least two folks waiting for it, but I don't know the order.

It is very nice to have friends to join in with this. I am very luck to have such friends.

This is such an awesome project, I'm hoping that my new group of gaming buddies will do something like this in the future. It's so great to have people to spend time with and indulge in grand scale geekery... :D

It is going to Adelaide next. I'm sure you can contact Sable and get on the list if you wanted...

This is all about FUN and FRIENDSHIP -- and that's wonderful, Frank! I can't get over it, actually...

How cool to have it! Others will love seeing it, I'm sure.

It has been quite a bit of fun. Sable had a great idea for this whole world wide sharing of Lego kits. but, he's got a lot of great ideas.

what kills me is how much shorter a time it took to disassemble than assemble. *grin*

It was great fun! and yes- something like 5 evenings to assemble; 1-1.5 hours to pull apart, even with more careful bagging. :)
