Post car accident we got to Smith College for the Phoenix Swords performance at their science fiction convention.
Originally we were going to be on Saturday, but we got moved to Easter Sunday. I wasn’t thrilled with that, but we had already committed to going.
Due to the accident I was the last to get there, so once I got there we brought in our stuff.

I was quite surprised to find what was on my name badge.

Maybe for a convention at a women’s college I should be feeling complimented?
The strange thing is they got my wife’s name right. I suspect a slip on the keyboard.

I had thought our first show was at 9, but it turned out to be 9:30. So, I wasn’t as late as I feared.
It was still fairly cold outside as we got ready for the show and there was still a small amount of snow remaining.

There weren’t a lot of people watching us, but we still did the show. The few folks there seemed to like it.

The next phase was to teach a class on three curved weapons: sickle, falchion and dusack.

That went OK. We had a few people attend, but not as many as last year.

Third, we did a discussion of what is the best sword to fight zombies.

Our answer is the falchion/machete like weapons that give good enough reach, are fast and can do a lot of damage.

Don’t take stabbing weapons as they don’t do much to zombies.

Not a lot of folks showed up for this.

Finally, we brought folks outside. The Phoenix people pretended to be zombies and we let folks attack us with padded swords.
This seemed to be the most popular and had a whole lot of people doing it.

It was tiring, but everyone seemed to enjoy it.

Then, we all went across the street to the pizza place.

I did go straight home from that while my wife gave others rides. So, it was good (mostly) I brought my own car.

I'm surprised there isn't anything like it in your area.

Glad, despite being sick and accident, things went over well, and better that you didn't have to leave early due to sickness.

Sorry the shows weren't well attended. Oh well.

The photo of Paul K in his hat and cassock and jeans I found very amusing.

You always look like you have so much fun!

How were you feeling during the performance as I know you said you hadn't been well.

I was much better today, but still not fully over it.
I'm pretty sure it was something I ate on Friday. By today it was mostly out of my system.
