Some things you can’t avoid

During the day we didn’t do much interesting. Clean the house and watch TV.

In the evening we went over to visit our friend Amy who is recovering from surgery.
She, like many of our friends, is big on games.
So, we ended up playing... Star Trek Catan. The same game I was avoiding last night.


I do like the little game pieces.


It is just like regular Catan, but with Star Trek pieces.


Amy’s son won. But, I guess he’s been playing twice a day since they got the game for Christmas. So, no surprise. I played once about 6 years ago.

Despite recovering, Amy still cooked “King Cake” for us.


It was more like a croissant than a cake. And, the frosting had a lemon flavor I thought was really good.


Then, back to play guillotine.

That’s one I’ve played before and I did much better.

It was a nice visit. But, they have three cats and my wife and I are both allergic. So, I was happy to come home and take a shower afterwards.

I'm really glad that Amy is doing so well. I didn't know what happened until Karl told us at Drill on Tuesday.

WOW - someone up here in New England who makes King Cake!?

I haven't had one since I was in New Orleans for Mardi Gras (2000).

Now I've got to try to find a good recipe..
