Sharks, but no laser beams

Last night I dreamed that I was in some town in the middle of the ocean.
It looked like an old Western town except there weren’t any streets. Where
the streets were it was open water. So, you had to walk on the wooden
walkways or go in.
There was some big event there that brought lots of people including my
family. The family in the dream was pretty generic as they were just a
bunch of people, I couldn’t tell you which members of my family were there.
The only one I actually recognized was my sister’s dog Smokey that had been
put to sleep in 1965.
There was some “take over the world” type guy there who had built this
place as a trap.
“I want you to come work for me as my assistant!” he said to me.
“No thanks,” I said. “I know what often happens to henchmen.”
“You’ll change you mind when you see how foolish other people are!” he
shouted.
He stamped his foot on the wooden floor and some sharks came to the surface
of the “street” next to us. Big sharks.
“Attention all people!” he shouted to the crowd on the street. “Each of
these plastic bubbles I have contains at one hundred dollar bill!”
He dumped a whole load of what looked like clear ping pong balls into the
water.
People began jumping in after them, even with the big sharks there.
The sharks began to eat the people. (This happened “off camera” for me in
the dream. There were only a few splashes of blood as I looked at the guy.)
“How is that supposed to make me want to work for you?” I asked.
“Because, I can do the same to your family!”
He threw a bunch of the balls into a clear spot of water near us and
stomped the floor again. We all watched them float there as a shark swam
under them.
Smokey came and hid behind me.
“Don’t think that’s going to work,” I said.
“Well, unless you come to work for me, you’ll never know how I trained the
sharks!”
“You’ve clearly trained them by stomping on the ground and throwing food
into the water,” I said. “That shouldn’t have been too hard to do.”
He scowled at me.
Dream ends
I have no idea what would have brought on this dream. I have not been
watching anything with westerns, sharks or Bond type villains in it.
(Yesterday I spent watching old Red Dwarf episodes.)
It was nice to see Smokey again…
